The Office of Agricultural Economics 1 attended the 5th/2025 meeting of the Chiang Mai Provincial Committee for Solving Farmers’ Problems Arising from Agricultural Produce.

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Mrs. Sucharee Picha, Director of the Office of Agricultural Economics region 1, attended the 5th/2025 meeting of the Chiang Mai Provincial Committee for Solving Farmers’ Problems Arising from Agricultural Produce (PAPC). The purpose of the meeting was to monitor and assess the situation of feed corn from the 2025/2026 production year in Chiang Mai Province, which is currently entering the market, to ensure a smooth process. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Weeraphong Ritrod, Vice Governor of Chiang Mai, and held at Meeting Room 4, on the 4th floor of the Chiang Mai Provincial Hall, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province. The details of the meeting’s outcome are as follows:

Based on the report from the Chiang Mai Provincial Agricultural Office, the feed corn production situation for the 2025/2026 year is as follows: Cultivation Area: The estimated planting area is 262,372 rai, which is an increase of 1,671 rai (0.64%) from the 2024/2025 production year. Production Volume: The total production is estimated at 239,874.65 tons, a decrease of 7,594 tons (3.17%) from the 2024/2025 production year. Average Yield: The average yield at 30% moisture content is 935 kilograms per rai, a decrease of 24 kilograms per rai (2.57%) from the 2024/2025 production year.

Regarding the market situation for the 2025/2026 feed corn production year, the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Commerce reports the following: Harvesting Status: Farmers have begun harvesting in the Mae Ai and Fang districts. Produce from other districts has not yet entered the market. Overall Progress: In total, approximately 7,627.60 tons have been harvested, which accounts for 3.18% of the total production. Sales Method: Farmers are selling their produce in bulk on an “as-is” basis because the moisture content is higher than 30%. Local Price: The purchase price in the area is between 5.50 – 5.60 Baht per kilogram. (Data as of September 9, 2025)

However, the Ministry of Commerce has now issued an announcement regarding the domestic purchase price of feed corn for the 2025/2026 year. In this announcement, the National Corn and Sorghum Policy and Management Committee (NBChP) approved a resolution setting the purchase price for feed corn (at 30% moisture content) in the provinces of Phetchabun, Kamphaeng Phet, Chaiyaphum, Phichit, and Uthai Thani at 7.05 Baht per kilogram. Therefore, the meeting (the Chiang Mai Provincial Committee) passed a resolution to: 1) Require collectors and animal feed factories in Chiang Mai Province to purchase shelled feed corn (at 30% moisture content) at a price of 7.05 Baht per kilogram. This aligns with the Ministry of Commerce’s official announcement on the domestic feed corn purchase price for 2025/2026. 2) Request that the Public Warehouse Organization (PWO) establish purchasing points in areas with few buyers in order to stimulate price competition.

Finally, the chairman of the meeting issued additional instructions, directing local and relevant agencies to closely monitor the feed corn production situation. He stated that if any problems or activities inconsistent with market mechanisms are discovered, the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Commerce, the Chiang Mai Provincial Agricultural Office, and other related agencies must be notified immediately. Furthermore, agencies in the various districts were instructed to monitor the volume of feed corn being purchased at local collection points and report this information to the relevant authorities. This data will be used for future market management and planning.
