On October 11, 2025, Mrs. Sucharee Picha, Director of the Office of Agricultural Economics Region 1, together with officers from the Research and Evaluation Section, participated in the field visit in Chiang Rai Province, led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thammanat Prompao. They were accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Amin Mayuso, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Nares Thamrongthipyakul, along with senior executives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The visit took place at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, Chiang Rai Province, to listen to local people’s concerns and to deliver policy directions to heads of government agencies and local administrative organizations. The Minister emphasized reducing agricultural production costs by instructing affiliated agencies to provide farmers with proper guidance on the efficient use of fertilizers and bio-products.
Later, the delegation visited the Chiang Rai Dam in Rob Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, to monitor the water situation and management in the Kok River Basin. Captain Thammanat assigned the Royal Irrigation Department to expedite consideration of constructing a sediment trap barrage in the upstream area of Mae Ai District to filter and reduce contaminants before they flow into Chiang Rai Province. At the same time, he instructed the Land Development Department, the Royal Irrigation Department, and the Department of Fisheries to jointly inspect the quality of water, soil, and aquatic animals to ensure public confidence in the safety of natural resources for consumption. He also directed agencies to identify alternative water sources for domestic use, reducing dependence on the Kok River and alleviating public concerns.
Subsequently, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thammanat Prompao, traveled to Wiang Chai District Office to meet with local leaders and receive reports on local issues and development needs. Proposals included the restoration and dredging of Nong Luang for agricultural and tourism development, the Nong Luang rehabilitation project, and the construction of a solar-powered water pumping system from the Kok River. The Minister assigned the establishment of a provincial working committee, chaired by Deputy Minister Nares Thamrongthipyakul, to drive problem-solving and development efforts in Chiang Rai Province with concrete actions.
On this occasion, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thammanat, also presented support materials and agricultural inputs, including agricultural land title deeds, aquatic animal species, fermented fish bio-extracts, and production factors under the project to enhance rice production efficiency for flood-affected farmers. He reaffirmed his commitment to raising agricultural product prices within three months to ensure stable income for farmers and to boost their morale and well-being.
